Default STICKY: Motivation Letter Ideas and Examples.

    Guys this just a suggestion.

If possible could we have a section where members can post successfull motivation letters ( personal details blanked out / deleted out course).
    or
We could just mention that a particular type of application was successfull and members could then upon request send them to each other.

    My reasoning is,

If my application was successfull, someone with similar circumstances could find it usefull.
The CFR is afterall uniform in their decision making process as to who may and who may not have licenses, based on your app + supporting motivation

Just a thought, maybe we could for once be one up on them.

Afterall the same criteria has to apply everyone.

That's my brain fart for the day.

If you think it's a K@k idea just Del the thread

I think that this is a pretty good idea Philip! FWIW, here is an occasional hunter rifle application of mine that resulted in a license being granted. I submitted my competency and this application / motivation at the same time. I received the competency in six months and the license three months later. It wasn’t all smooth-sailing though! I must’ve called daily, with many, many letters, faxes and e-mails in order to expedite the application! Good luck!

I also see the benefit of this, especially from a guidance point of view. I wouldn't want to see a whole bunch of clone applications result from this, but it's definately a good idea to share info and examples of motivations, and what lengths and depths we have gone to.

I still think that your strongest motivation will be your own and that we'll all have different circumstances, but it'll give a good idea of what's desirable.

As for a seperate section, I think maybe a sticky topic in this thread may be adequite and we can attach the motivations / examples here. Let's do it with this one.

Philip, I thought the idea was to post motivations that had resulted in an approved application? If the application is still pending or has been refused then it's not really of much value?! ???

I pretty much have a standard way of applying for handguns, and it works every time, ok bear in mind that my applications have a couple of extras about who I train etc. but even on the training side I never had any problems even it is not "SETA" give me a couple of days then I will gladly give you guys a "standard" guideline on what I use.

yes, the idea is to post successfull motivations, I was just giving examples of what should be in the subject line.
