Thread: storage permit

    Default storage permit

How does one go about getting s storage permit?
Buying a new gun and would like to keep it in my safe.
Looked at the act, can only find sect 83 which is not very descriptive.

    Thanks

Don't think you can get it for a gun from a shop. I may be wrong.

If you're buying from a licenced dealer, you won't get it. Rather apply for temp licence and motivate accordingly.

If its from private seller, go to nearest DFO with a signed agreement of sale and ask for one. Fairly straght forward

Just to clarify, from a dealer , is there no way even if you have a nice dfo? And is it a local dfo process or does it go to pta? Yeah applying for a temp license aswell.....

Temp licence goes up but shouldn't take longer than 30 days... Theoretically!

I recall the reason for not gettin firearm released on a Saps539 is there's no particulars for the dealer's register or something.

But y bother with it... Spend the time and effort fondling the P30

I depends on the dfo, i know of a few cases here abouts where the applicant claimed that the gunshop was charging too much in storage fees and that the firearm was receiving abuse by being mishandeled.

Hi, just wondering. Did you get the storage permit. I want to try doing the same thing with the next rifle I buy. What documents or motivation did you have to submit?

Just an FYI... my S21 arrived at CFR on Monday and was approved yesterday... just saying... might be a better route... especially if you can get it to CFR quickly.
