Default ANC: A Wounded Predator in a Snare

ANC: A Wounded Predator in a Snare

The current state of South African politics is in direstraits. The democracy-apocalypse clock is at 5mins to midnight. Reason being, the ANC is a wounded predator caught in a snare that it cannot escape from.

The analogy explained: The snare is the party’s moral rot, mismanagement andcorruption; the predator is the government itself; the surrounding animals notyet caught are the citizens of South Africa.

Like a wounded animal, the government is in a state of utterparalysis. This predatory animal is stuck, can move neither forwards norbackwards, it is starving and cannot hunt to feed itself. Meanwhile, thecitizens surrounding it can see the gaping wounds and are firing shots at it.

From Helen Zille pointing out, perhaps controversially, that the trapped animalhas left the education system and some of their governing provinces in ruins.

Even people, that previously tried to free the caged animal from entrapment ofthe previous system, are turning on it; Mamphela Ramphele recently adding hervoice to the chorus of education discontent. COSATU is also firing shots at thetrapped animal.

With government misappropriation of funds at all-time highs, the need for eTolls has brought about widespread civil disobedience in Gauteng. They understandably ask, “Why is the trapped animal crying out for additionalfunds when it keeps misappropriating what it already collects?”

The citizenry is angry and understandably so.

So in defense of itself, it cannot fire shots back, becausethe trapped predator cannot move an cannot address the real reasons for thegaping wounds. So the predator hurtles rocks, anything it can possibly pick upto throw back at its detractors.

Thus, the current ANC always arguing semantics, arguing about interpretation of words, using race as a weapon orutilising emotive populism or scapegoating. There’s simply nothing left in its defensive arsenal.

Then there’s the snare, the metaphorical party itself. The rot runs so deep that if the trapped animal frees itself from the snare, itwill most likely bleed to death. So many of the party-powerful have turned tothe darker side of politics, that releasing itself from the snare means almostcertain political implosion.

There is not only infighting amongst the tri-partyalliance; Their own constituent bodies, like the ANCYL are gunning for them and are now unperturbed in attacking the mother body.

This is the blood that willcertainly drain itself from the trapped animal if it purges corrupt elementswithin itself. Thereafter, organ will turn on organ, cell will turn on cell and slowly, the animal is killed from within.

Due to the lack of options, it cannot free itself to moveforward, because then it risks death.
It cannot remain stuck, because then thesurrounding animals (the citizens) keep taking shots at it, risking a slowerdeath.

So, the trapped predator does the only thing it can, it draws thesurrounding animals in towards it and traps them along with it.

This can be seen in the constant shots taken at theconstitution, the judiciary, the media, civil activists and oppositionpoliticians. The wounded predator is trying to weaken everything around it asto draw all who is left towards it.

It even uses syrup to draw them in, sweetsounding rhetoric like “second transition.” It then can keep the citizens inits clutches and can continue to feed itself.

This is the sad case of a woundedpredator that once was a great liberator, but failed to make the transition togood administrator. Liberation movements are these animals: If it’s unable tochange its spots to suit its new role as government, it finds itself ensnared.

Then, these predators turn on everything around them, including the previouslyliberated and institutions of democracy they helped build.

The surrounding animals have to save themselves before thedemocracy-apocalypse clock strikes midnight. At this juncture, the predatorwill have all surrounding animals in its clutches and from there, escape onlyoccurs in two ways; a bloody battle with the predator or a reluctant world thatcomes to the rescue that results in transgression onto sovereign territory.

The ominous signs of a trapped predator that has lost the plot is obvious; It’s growling, showing teeth, throwing rocks, anything it possibly can to keep thesurrounding animals, us, civil society, at bay. That clock strikes midnight inthe Autumn of 2014. So, what are you going to do?

Vote with your skin, you get a government obsessed with appearancesand cosmetics; vote with your head, you get a government obsessed with beingintelligent. You choose!

With our troubled history, this is admittedly aquantum leap of behavior, but one we all have to make and make quickly. I havea intuitive sinking feeling, this may be the last fair choice you’ll be able to make if you don’t make it wisely.
Recent studies show that 1 out of every 3 liberals are just as dumb as the other 2

this article, like the 100's preceding it, makes a 100% sense.
too bad the 75% of the ANC's voter base are so uneducated and can barely read in the first place and keeps getting swept up by the typical pre-election "remember apartheid!" campaigns; the remaining 25% is just after the gravy train.

    the article makes sense, yes.
but it will never reach the intended target market.

I saved this from an article a while ago, might have even been via this site, but it's relevant to Lian's point:

Voters for the ANC do not vote for it for ideological or policy reasons; they vote for it primarily because of their material dependence on the ANC-controlled state.
If its voters remain poor, the ANC wins because they vote for it. In the very unlikely event that they become richer - for example, through "tenderpreneurship" - they will still vote for the ANC because they want to be on the list for the next tender.

A November 2009 Ipsos Markinor survey found that two-thirds of the people who vote for the ANC do not work. Of the one-third who do, slightly less than a quarter work full-time and about a tenth work part time.

Even more striking is the ANC voters' education levels:
    Only 8% of ANC supporters have a higher-education qualification;
23% have graduated from high school; and
69% either have no education or have not completed high school.
The primary constituency of the ANC is poor blacks.

    h0stag3 approves :-D . Nice find Camo!

I like the analogy used here, it is fitting.

But this is scary stuff. It really is. If pawpaw meets windmachine... it will get ugly. They blame crime on people being poor. Why are the people poor? Extrapolating again, but it is a great way to cause friction, motivate, tax the working class more and inevitably gain support.

    Interesting times ahead.

And no, I am not Fanie. Haha. Really!

    Very interesting read!

The sad fact is that a liberation movement never makes a good administration body. In SA we have the ANC to prove that! In Zim they have Mugabe (liberated Zim from the colonialists and never let go of power, f'ing up the country as he goes along) and similar in Cuba with Castro!

It is sad to see our country go down this road! I do believe the ANC has no interest in educating the poorest of the poor. Their only intention is too remain in power and to do that they need the masses to be uneducated.

Will SA weather this storm? Ultimately, I think so. It might be on our knees, but we will survive. Organised business is so deeply embedded in SA that I think ultimately that will be our saving grace.

Will I see a new SA where we are totally free from our past? Maybe in my old age, but at least my grandchildren will be free from this burden that we carry now.
