Dont have my gun yet, have the holstet etc, and decided to pay the money for a Daniels Cobra belt. Know its not that expensive but for me it is. But glad I did. Almost bought a pair of Peltors as well for R1490.00 but decided not to.

Peltors are worth the money! Get the electronic set first time round. Best investment that you can make.

It was between the Howard Leights and the Peltor Hunters, but I have read the Peltors are better. Lets see at the end of the month....or year....I work for myself. Hahaha

As PeaceOfficer noted, the Peltors are worth the money.
I am on my second set of Passive ones, the first I owned for around 20 years before the sponge protective ring on the one ear split.

As for the electronics, all be it they help out a lot to hear your surroundings while shooting, I find they tend to cause me issues while talking to someone on the range while shots ring out, cause you suddenly can't hear what someone is saying for a brief second, "And then Bob said....wife was keen on....sister and she is so..."
These were with Peltor Hunters, the Sportacs may be better though?

For the moment, I will stick to my Peltor Bullseye passives

You can use that in two ways:-
    1 - improve your lip-reading skills
    2 - improve your imagination.

I have the Tactical 300's. There's a definite clipping like you mention but it's not that bad once you adjust to it. I've been experiencing issues with my hearing (due to a loud parrot and louder kids) and find that the electronics offer better protection for my oh-so-sensitive-ears over my old passives.

If you are very used to passives, electronics can also throw you off, something I found in my personal capacity. You suddenly hear a lot more going on around you cause they also increase the volume of chatter, movement and fidgeting.
So volume is very important to be aware of
