    Default CZ 308. 150gr or 180gr

Gents, for general hunting from impala up to Kudu/ Bwb, what would you use.

    150 or 180gr.

Im leaning towards 150, but knowing what a tough bliksem a BWB is it makes me wonder if 180 wont be better.

Im new to the 308 calibre so please help out.

    Regards.

If you load premium and specifically monometal bullets 150gr is the answer.

With normal cup and core 180 to eliminate bullet break up and meat damage.

Mmm, not a high speed caliber, I would use 180gr for everything, something like accubonds or partitions, won't break up and won't fail, not at that speed.

The 150gr mono's makes sense, but then it must also be your practice round, your day at the range round, otherwise what is the point, adjusting your scope every time you go hunting?

    I use 150gr for everything.
If most of my hunting was Bushveld, then I'd use 180gr.
A friend uses standard 150gr PMP for everything as well

Unless you cull or hunt throughout the year how many of the expensive hunting bullets do you use in a year - 20? I would then rather adjust my scope once a year when I go hunting and record my scope settings. The rest of the time I will use cheapies for target parctice and competitive shooting.

This rifle is for hunting only. No sport. Wiil prob not go any furthar than 200y with it.

Would prefer the 180, just afraid of bullet drop if I go beyond 150.

As said I have no experience with this calubre. Been using 243 for the small stuff and 300 for the bigger but their both gone and this has to be my do all till I invest in a 375.

Everybody normally slates the old 303. With that you set the scope at 2 inches high at 100 meters and it will hit 2 inches low at 200 and 11-13 inches at 300m. With the 180gr in a 308 you can do the same and you can then shoot out to 250m without thinking about compensation.
