Look, as a dangerous game rifle I think a double is better, alternatively a magazine fed controlled feed action.

I just have a fascination with the falling block action!

And since last weekend, I have become partial to big bores as well. I have access to a stray P14 action, just don't know what to do with it...

I also love the falling block action. Short and handles like a dream. Very strong action with a little leeway for those slightly hotter loads.

Smaller calibers have their place, but there is a lot of satisfaction in hunting with big bores.

I know a guy who was a PH examiner in Zim. His comments were that a falling block, in the right hands, was faster through their proficiency shoot than a bolt action. I don't know how may rounds it entailed, but he had no reason to lie. The fastest was a guy with a double.

    Makes you think, doesn't it!
