What optic would you mount on your FN FAL?
I've just got my section 21 for my FN FAL.
Assuming I have a decent railed dustcover for it, what optic would you fit to a FN FAL if it were yours and why? I would love a 4x32 ACOG for it, but pricing will likely put it out my league.
Lets hear it!

Depends what you want it for.
If you want to run the gun in a sort of DMR role then, I'd look at a 1-4 variable, like the Trij Accupoint.
If its your only autoloader and your primary fighting gun then Id put an H1 on it.
The FAL is not a "sniper" or precision rifle so you're probably not going to get much out of a high powered piece of glass.Cattle die, kindred die, every man is mortal:

the glory of the great dead.

Was gonna recommend the same. Maybe get a price on the 2X magnification option.
Congrats on the licence though. Let's hope the section 16 comes thru quickly too

Re: What optic would you mount on your FN FAL?
Pretty much what SSP said. The FAL has some potential out to at least 500 metters for hitting man size targets but only if you can see and identify them. I would look at a variable scope that will give options at close range as well as out to 500. Maybe something like a 2-7 power with a mil dot reticle. If you can find something in that range with an illuminated reticle you have a rifle with good night time potential as well.

I second the H1 recommendation. You could always look at a magnifier later as well.

Re: What optic would you mount on your FN FAL?
1-4x24 Accupoint. It will make using it at 150 - 200 plus much easier.
If it is a CQB to mid range rifle I agree on the H1 or a Trijicon Reflex.
Imo the Accupoint has a much broader "you never know" application and is very effective in 1x. No batteries and adjustable fiber optic intensity for daytime use.

Re: What optic would you mount on your FN FAL?
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to look at the options mentioned.
Looks like I've found a decent railed dustcover (see below), thanks to Khumba's advice at Huntex.
