Default Hunting - VW Gof AD

I just caught it in passing but has anybody seen the new VW golf ad??

Apparently hunting is blamed in part for the wounds suffered by the animals presented in the TV ad? If that's the case I would suggest we all email VW and tell them what we think of their new AD as well as the ASA!?!?!

Seems like they don't know what the difference between a hunter and a poacher is!!!

Careless blaming like that can do a lot of damage and put even more strain on an already strained relationship with the uniformed masses!!

Yeah, I've seen the add. I don't think they're knocking hunters in the add but the use of gin-traps used for "hunting", in which the cheetah in the add lost a leg (looks like that add is shot in Namibia?!). And yeah, as per Piet, the babe in the add is pretty babelicious and even if she were selling life membership and stickers for GFSA... I'd probably buy one :-[

As I mentioned on a earlier thread, many framers are still legally setting (ie. hunting with) gin traps which often then catch non target animals.

She does soften the blow a little doesn't she!!

The problem is that the average person takes what is said at face value!! If the ad said it was hunters then hunters it must be! Hunting can't really afford any more bad press considering the push by pressure groups world wide for its outright ban

Absolutely PS it's up to us as individuals to help the associations improve the image of hunting in the public eye and that unfortunately means opening our mouths on occassion when something is done or said in the public arena which serves only to tarnish the image of hunting (and indirectly sport shooting / firearm ownership in all its forms) even further!

For what it may be worth I lodged a complaint with the ASA and sent an email to VW on the matter. Nothing will probably come from the effort but it certainly was worth a try!
