Advice
Hi
I don't own a shotgun and never have but am interested in investing in one. I have shot but always with borrowed guns.
My questions are;
1. What is the ideal barrel length for wing shooting?
2. Which is better s/s or o/u?
3. I am not going to ask which is the best make but rather which makes should I avoid?
Obviously price will be the biggets determining factor.
Thanks
Kurly

Re: Advice
Damm, how long is a piece of string.
All advice I can give is in the form of most questions.
What type/ size bird do you intend to shoot,
S/S in my opinion is the better, that's because that's what I have.
O/U the ones I have shot with were gr8.
Buy a known name, Aya,Beretta, Browning, ........ make sure the gun fits you, don't buy over the phone, touch smell and feel the Gun.
If possible try to get a Continental gun, I'm told they are better than those from Asia.
Chamber size, some of the older guns have a chamber of 65mm, most ammo is 70mm, keep that in mind.
However the best advice I could give you is to contact wingshooters, www.wingshooters.co.za , or your local clay pigoen / gunclub.
Just remember,
Buy the best you can afford.
and
Speak to as many people as possible, until you have formed your own opinion.
Once you have the gun you have the gun, to change it will be a major headache.
This is just my advice, I don't know enough about shotguns to advise you, I only know what I like, what I have and What I would like to have.
I hope this helps to confuse you more.

I am looking at a 12ga to shoot anything from pigeons up to geese.
I will visit the wingshooters sight.

Re: Advice
Thanks SSP but I would prefer a sporting gun to your suggested weapon of mass destruction :)
