Default Which Richards Microfit Stock for a 375

I am wanting to to restock a 375 H&H. I had a look at Richards Microfit Gun Stocks. I would like to go with on of the following three:

    1. Safari Roll Over

    2. Safari Monte Carlo
    3. Safari Classic

Which do you think will be the best for the 375 to use with a scope and open sights.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hi,

be prepared for a long wait, be prepared for little to no feedback from sales, be prepared for not too much help.

Order neither, get the Custom Rollover. This allows you to then either keep the Custom Rollover style or with a bit of work to turn it into a Monte Carlo or a Modern Classic or a Sportster.

I ordered one in Grade AA Claro Walnut, it took nigh on 4 months and it landed at R 2 500. I ordered mine with extra inletting so I can do a full bedding job. Mine was for a CZ550 and in the state you get it still leaves much wotk to be done.

I have not fully examined nine yet

The wood looks fine, it is difficult to tell and I have not really spent much time looking at the stock. They call the stock 96% complete but for me the finishing is the part that takes the time.

I chose the Rosewood tips to the stock, not good should have taken the Ebony. I also had the Pachmayr decellerator fitted. I am shooting this weekend and don't want to take the rifle from the existing stock. I may do this on the weekend to check the fit.

I can take a couple of pics of the stock in the raw state the grain is more difficult to see. There is however reasonable nice figure to the stock.

    What action is your rifle.

Personally I cannot get the correct cheekweld for both iron sights as well as a scope. The difference is too great. In my opinion the thing to do would be to make an adjustable cutout on the comb, much like they do on tactical rifles. That will work.

Andrew, I am looking to restock a Sako L61r in 375 h&h. I would like a better fitting stock with a London oil finish. My plans are to get a stock, glass and pillar bed, checker and then do the London oil finish. I think all of the above would cost in the region of R10 000 including the stock. Which I think will be a lot cheaper than buying a blank and having it made here.

look at boyds gun stocks... I ordered one for my .308 total cost worked out to about R1300.00 and it took short of a month from i ordered it till it reached my post office. Note if you going this route once the usps shows exported you need to get the sa tracking number so that you can track it here.

Was that for a good grade Walnut or for a laminated stock?

Identical to my plans bar the London Oil finish, this is very tedious and time consuming. I think I will end with an oil finish but one of the more modern finishes which have other agents in them. If you have not yet done so google, there is tons of information and misinformation available. London oil tends to be a boiled linseed oil which is as tacky as hell. The other oil finishes you get contain varying portions of tung oil, linseed oil, polyurethane varnish etc. Be on your toes with this one.

You need to order the extra inletting. I would then go up a couple of grades on the wood grade, a minimum of AAA would suffice. As I said take the ebony tips with the maple seperator.

Is the L61r the same as the L61 Finnbear?

Took me a while to come to grips with the site and how to order all the extra's, are you up to speed on them?

    Good luck.

Maybe I must rather use truoil for the stock.

I was planing on getting an aaa grade stock. I am not sure what wood is best to get. I am not sure if the l61r is the same as the finnbear l61.

I was thinking that I would just order the stock with out the ebony forend as I don't want one at 45 degrees. I also want a orange recoil pad. So I will also get that done on this side.
