222 to 6x45 conversion

Anyone had a 222 sako Riihimaki converted to another calibre. Old rifle needs rebareling, am interested in 6x45, but worried about over-all length problems. Any information would be appretiated.

I rebarrelled my Sako Vixen .222 to a 6x45. Had no problems at all.

As long as the 6x45 rounds fit in your magazine, you should be good to go.

The 6x45 is by far a more suitable round for hunting than the 222 IMO.

My rifle seemed to prefer the Round Nose Bullets, and Hornady have discontinued them unfortunately. However, thankfully Claw Bullets make a 105gr bonded RN which works brilliantly, and is a local supplier.

Im also in PE. Rolf Huttenrauch is doing the work for. He seems happy that it can be done. My rifle is an older model and has clip out mag. He can do a mod to it to make up a few mm's. Hope it works otherwise i'll have a single shot. Will check out the claw, have used them in my 308 before with good results.
