9mm BUG or 357 magnum
Hello,
I received my glock 19 on an SD licence a couple of months ago, and I truly love it!
I enjoy shooting so much I joined an ISPC club to help hone my skills and to scratch the shooting itch. Now I have a dilemma, I have the cash for another handgun(on occasional sport shoot), but only one. I have to choose between a 9mm BUG (SIG P290 or Ruger LC9 or anything thats considerably thinner and smaller than a g19) or something like a second hand 4inch 357 magnum revolver.
Use of BUG:
1) Carry when deep concealment is necessary (I am a relatively small framed guy, so a G19 is sometimes hard to pull off under certain circumstances)
2) To carry when jogging/mountain biking etc
3) As an actual BUG along with my g19 when traveling to the farm etc.
Use of 357 Magnum:
1) Revolvers are fun to shoot, so maybe do some ispc shooting with it
2) I just love a good looking revolver (Colt python...)
3) Reliable gun to keep in the safe if something happens to my glock (repairs, confiscated after use in SD,.. etc)
I could actually see myself using a BUG a lot more than a big revolver, just my emotions are clouding my judgement. What would your opinion be? And if I go for something like a BUG, can I really motivate it under ispc sport shooting as ispc has no BUG devision like idpa?

Abekker has my problem, skinny guys carrying in a tuckable IWB look like we have a tumour growing off our hip, to quote T.
26 is good except she's a little fat. Heence the need for a slim gun.

Yeah thats the logical choice, can use the same mags and everything. I had one in my hand the other day, but i believe a single stack BUGs are a bit thinner than the double stack glock.
Yeah exactly, IWB with a tucked shirt on a skinny guy is not that concealable. In the winter time a jacket does the trick nicely, however sunny south africa is hot 8 out of the 12 months, so a slim BUG would work great

Get the BUG. A G26 would be a logical choice but if that is still too big go with something smaller but still in 9mm. I love my wheelguns but priority is personal and family safety first, sport second.

Re: 9mm BUG or 357 magnum
Well if you put it like that, there really is no argument left for the wheelgun at this stage. Yes the BUG definitely has to be in 9mm, I will have to go look at the options out there as i have not yet held any of the subcompacts except for the g26 which still seems a bit fat. Also a problem is the availibility of guns like the Beretta nano, ruger lc9 and the sig p290 in south africa with spare parts, magazines, etc. Anyone know of a dealer in gauteng? Dave Sheer imports sigs as far as I know?

True. PM Andy 123456789 or whatever his screen name is
...too lazy to look it up at the moment. He IIRC just grabbed a Sig P290 and seems to like it a lot.
My choice if available would be the M&P Shield but, alas, they are not yet in SA as we speak.Run Fast, Bite Hard!

Re: 9mm BUG or 357 magnum
erm, andy_760901 but yes, thanks for the mention irok, hahaha, yes i really do like the P290RS, and i have taken some pictures with it in comparison to my Glock 27 (same as 26 size) and man ow man it is much much smaller and thinner, makes the 27/ 26 look like a really big gun in comparison, which it is not. Abekker, if you send me your email i will email you the pics, there are a few and to post them up here will take too long and be much effort, shoot me your mail address and i will send pics. Otherwise got o DSG, chat to Bryan and check it out yourself, they have the P290RS and baby Glocks there as well...
