What .22 Semi-Auto on a budget and where?

From what I've heard, MRST will be bringing the S&W M&P 15-22 in at just over your budget. Might be worth saving that little extra and getting it.

I think Target Line in East London had one for around R8K. Give them a ring.

I have been looking at this myself as well.

So far, there are 4 rifles that tickle my fancy:
1 - Remington 597 VTR CS (3 different variants on this one, base, digital camo, and quadrail)
2 - Ruger SR-22 Rifle
3 - Colt M4 .22 LR Carbine
4 - And the forementioned S&W MP15-22

I love the whole tactical look of these rifles, and think it would be fun to do some combat shooting with these.

If you don't need or want the tactical design, a plain jane Ruger 10-22 is damned hard to beat and 25rd mags are available although I can't say how easily they may be sourced in SA.

That Remington 597 VTR looks really nice, i like it cause it has a steel lower and aluminum upper, the S&W has a polymer body (not that its a bad thing, its strong and light weight) i just personally prefer the look and feel of the metal body.

Anyone know if these little remingtons are being brought in to SA??

Can you get German Sport Guns (GSG) in your town? Have shot some of these and i think they work pretty good if you have right ammo!
