Re: SD/EDC Knife
I have a CRKT M16-14 SFG as well, it's the same size as the one you're looking at and it's not too big. It's easy to open and makes a hell of an impression when opened. One hand closing takes a little bit of practice. I like tanto blades a lot but they are also tricky to sharpen.

Re: SD/EDC Knife
Hmmm... must go somewhere to check the sizes out. Somewhere near Eastgate where I can check? Going there this weekend.
Blind, tanto tip or drop point?
Dirk, in my eyes, until changed, fast drawing and fast deployment of a knife are key. Can't think of a situation where I would want to close my knife lightning fast or holster my pistol lightning fast.
One handed the Auto LAWKS will take practice, but must say, they are fast to open. That is what kinda made me wonder about Cold Steel. Looked at a Lawman and an AK47 at huntex.
I appreciate the input guys!

Re: SD/EDC Knife
The AK-47 is really nice but it's impossible to close with one hand. What I also like about the CRKT is the Auto lawks and guards on both the top and bottom on the blade, it's reassuring to know it won't easily close on your hand. A friend of mine cut his pinky off and cut half way through his ring finger the other day when his folder closed on his hand. I think the place you'll be able to get the most options is Sharpedge in Sandton, if you can go there. Have you been there?

Re: SD/EDC Knife
My vote goes to the Byrd Cara Cara with G10 handle. I've got one, & it goes everywhere with me. I also threw a little paracord knot on the eyelet to assist with opening, & one handed opening is a breeze.

Re: SD/EDC Knife
It was his father in laws knife, maybe it wasn't an accident after all! I'll have to ask him what it was. They reattached it and he should have some use of it. Anyhoo... If you cannot find a knife there you will probably not find it anywhere else. Set aside an hour or three since you'll be there a while! It's like knife heaven....
