How do you guys rate PMP cases? Good or not? I know in the rifles that PMP is thicker, which makes that you can get pressure very quickly compared to other cases. Please advise

I like PMP cases, they're nice and thick and provides a nice strong crimp for heavy loads. They also last a long time compared to some of the other brands. I do not get maximum velocities with them though, but that doesn't bother me.

I agree with chops, also like pmp cases.

I have about 600 cases of different brands. The trick is to seperate them and load up batches using one brand of case.

Coming from a guy that almost blew his SBH up :). (All is sorted, new cylinder on the way)

I have only got PMP cases at the mo (350 of them), and I am very happy with them. I had one batch (batch 091, IIRC)that I bought 150 of, as virgin cases, that were a bit iffy in terms of case length - some longer than my Lee case trimmer pilot (which is not a problem - I just trimmed them down to length), but a whole lot were shorter (by up to 0.6mm).

I have taken the shortest 50 and batched them together. I plan to use these for very light and low recoiling plinking loads, to get those with small hands to have a go with my wheel gun. I am thinking of putting around 7grn MS200/MP200, behind a 200grn B&J RN (with a dacron filler), for about 900fps - so that is about .45ACP-ish.

I shortened my Lee pilot by 0.25mm, and managed to trim the rest. From advice here on the forum, I understand that equal case length plays a big role in big revolver accuracy - as it has a big influence on crimp.

I am looking for some Norma/Winchester/Remington cases, simply as a way to ID my hunting loads from my full house practice loads. Anybody with leads?

    Cheers

Sorry, just read WRM and Chop's posts earlier in the thread - that is the sort of advice that I was referring to above...and should have referenced them.

have had the same problem with .357 Mag cases that were ever so slightly shorter than standard, just marked them and then let rip with with a few nice loads and in no time ( around 5 or 6 loads worst case scenario ) they were up to length

If only this were true - I would be feeling rather chuffed at the moment. The facts, however, are that brass is primarily retired due to case splits (case wall thickness neither counters or aids in this), head separation (not likely in the parallel walled 44Mag), or because the primer pockets get too loose. There is also a whole lot more to this, including that brass "work hardens" (which is why some of the rifle guys anneal the necks) - but for simplicity's sake - your brass is more likely to split before aything else.

Revolvers are mostly kind to the brass and whatever the brand - it should last a long long time anyway.

    Hi Guys.
Anybody ever had any experience with Starline Brass? See that it is manufactured in USA, will it work with our primers here (ie loosefitting primer vs tight fitting primer). Please advise
    Thanks
