How and where do you apply for a license ?

My father passed away 15 years ago and my Mom kept the pistol in a safe at home. She passed away recently and the pistol has been bequeathed to me. The license is still in his name and I gather the firearm should not be in my possession ( or my Mom's for that matter).

How and where does one go about getting a license? Can it be done online?

You need to do proficiency training, the firearm will need to be handed into a shop for safekeeping, then you will apply for competency and the License at your local police station.

But yip, sputnik, you gonna have a difficult time trying to get the FA licensed to you if you are not here in person ...

Speak to the executor of the will. If a larger financial institution,they will appoint an agency to do the transfer and handle the storage of the firearm until the license has been approved. (agency does all the paper work for you...or so I am told)

In the mean time start planning to get your house in order re. Competency etc in order for the appointed agency to follow through with the request to transfer the firearm across to you.
