I would suggest a hard look at the VZ58. I like them so much I bought one. Very good value for money. A reputation for outstanding reliability and they are uber shootable.

I use a full size FAL for IDPA, but I am 110kg and 1.96m.

I get the same question over and over, why. Answer; in real life if I shoot you with a 5,56 you might live, especially if you are wearing body armor, with a 7,62 I doubt it.

The only thing I hate about IDPA is gamers. It is to sharpen your defensive skills not a video game.

I get lots of teasing about using an FAL until the scores are posted.

even if you miss with a FAL.... the badguys will suffer severe intestinal failure.

Okay... so I bought the FN FAL. A VERY nice condition one. Now for the licensing... Damn I hate this part.

We are running the NEA VZ58 upper and lower hand guard on our VZ58 7,62X39 demo rifle and I can say it is an exceptional piece of equipment - it fits superbly to very good tolerances.

Mounting a Micro or RMR or similar will give irons c-witness with this system.

Unfortunately the pic is of the stripped down version (Receiver, barrel and trigger group. I should have taken photo's of the end product but my phone would have suffered drool damage. The rifle has been refurbished so headspacing and the other stuff is sorted. The pic is a bit big to load on this thread (4Meg)
