Got this of AHN hunting forum (Aussie). I have personally seen a Howa with normal blue barrel where the barrel could be loosened by hand - it was tigthened up and fixed in place with a slot and grub screw - shoots a charm). Dont know if we can expect the same notice. As a safety check - look if you can unscrew tour barrel by hand.

Please check your rifle number against the list supplied as two guys on Jaracal have reported that their rifles form part of the group that need to be checked for loose barrels.

I see the recall is for the stainless steel barrels only, but I'll check my "blue" rifle just in case, my serial nr is smack in the middle of the recalled ones.

Herewith more feedback on process in Oz. Am attaching photo.Attachment 8160

[[Contacted OSA and was told, I need to take my rifle to the gun shop, they will remove the stock and on the underside of the action and the barrel there should be 2 lines marked (reference points to determine if the barrel has moved in relation to the action). Normally this is a single line marked during manufacture but for some reason on the recalled models it was done at sepperate stages so some of the marks may be out. Now the gun shop will measure the distance between these 2 marks, if it's less than 1mm nothing will change, take your gun home and enjoy. If its greater than 1mm it will be sent away the marks filled off and new ones marked. On both occasions all details will be sent to OSA for there reference.
That what I was told anyway. So off to the gun shop to see what they say.]]
