Re: DEDICATED STATUS
Are you wanting to shoot IDPA or IPSC?
I shoot IPSC, you can have a look at the SAPSA website to find a club closest to you and get in touch with them.

Re: DEDICATED STATUS
Off road junky
The differences are subtle, and not so subtle at the same time. Is that as clear as mud?
Best bet would be to google them, and read a bit. Way too much to be explained here, suffice it to say that of the two, IDPA is more 'tactical' a sport, whereas IPSC is more a 'sport' sport. Both have their place and value, and is up to the individual as to what they prefer... Doing both is also an option of course.
I would stay away from 'postal' clubs myself, since all they teach you is shooting at a static target at the range. IDPA and IPSC at least get your heart rate up a bit, and getting dedicated status with either takes 3 months at most.

I'm going to give NSA a bash as soon as my licence comes through. Will still push for SADPA DSS, but this will take some time (particularly here in George), and all I'd like DSS for at this point in time is to increase max ammo allowance.
SADPA DSS will be my own yardstick of when I am truly a dedicated sports shooter.
Am I being fair?

Re: DEDICATED STATUS
Sorry bud. IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) SADPA (South African Defensive Pistol Association) is affiliated to them, IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation) and SAPSA (SA Practical Shooting Association) is affiliated to them. Psychosis gave you a pretty good and simple explanation of the difference between the two.
I think the whole E/Cape is like that. We are really spoilt for choice down here in the ass end of the land.
