I purchased a howa 22-250 5 months ago (still waiting for the license :'()

Before I purchased the rifle I did a lot of reading on the international websites and didn't find much negative about them, a lot of postives though.

Just bought the Howa in 300 win mag with Leopold scope. Awaiting the SAPS to bless me and send me hunting next year ! HAve read that it is one of the most accurate rifles out of the box.

WOLVERINEQTG, which model did you get? Synthetic or wooden stock?

I think it is the 1200 synthetic stock, putting a new recoil pad onto it to start off with

Hi WOLVERINEQTG. The model M-1500 perhaps? .300 Win Mag with Howa's synthetic stock. You shot .300 Win Mag a lot and one with a synthetic stock? If you're going to do a lot of (recreational) benchwork you may want to set aside a few pennies and have a action glass bedded and the barrel free floated. I had it done and the results were a marked improvement! Good luck with the rifle and even more luck with SAPS CFR!

For what it's worth, I'd go with the .243. Do they even market / stock the Howa locally in 25-06?

I have seen 1. The thing is i wont go under 80gr and the 25-06 offers a 120gr vs the 100gr of the 243

And i want proper terminal performance with a 100gr bullet so that rules out the 270, I aslo had a Brno in 270, was a 30-06 with a shot out barrel that i changed. Don't know why but i just don't like the 30-06 but the again to me there is only 1 big game rifle and that is a DRIE EN I DRIEKWART
