Default 9mm vs .45 vs Rifle A Dr's View of Gunshot Wounds

A ER/OR Doctor Andreas Grabinsky from Seattle, talks about GSW's. Interesting look at ballistics from their perspective. Essentially he considers a handgun wound, a handgun wound, and they all lack power. He also makes distinctions between the types of damage seen from the traditional rifle round and the modern small caliber high velocity rounds.

Very interesting video - not sure if it was posted before.

The message I get is that he says that a handgun is mostly useless because shot people can have little damage, and even be able to do things like run etc.

That's why follow up shots, quickly and accurately, are so important.

How many times can you shoot somebody without the law being a problem?
The guy in the video was shot twice (looked like center mass), and he still ran, and appeared again later.

If you really need to shoot someone, you need to shoot to stop him. If it takes 10 shots to stop him, then so be it. If it means killing him to stop him, then the amount of shots you fire is pretty irrelevant.

    This ^^^

Put him down and out of the fight (they are not the same thing always). Reflexively shooting two AT him and then ignoring your target will get you killed...
