Default How to keep your gun if not renewed...

The extension does not extend the license renewal period, only the "possession" period for the old green license holders.

Now if that person can keep their firearm legally for 1 more year before once again be threatend to dispose of their firearm, maybe the following can work:

    1. Do the prescribed training and apply for competency certificate now.
    2. When the next D-Day arrives hopefully you would have received your competency certificate.
    3. Hand you firearm in at your local friendly gunshop, negotiate a "handling fee" and then "buy" your gun back.
    4. Apply for the licence.

    Bob's your aunty

Maybe, just maybe this can work.

    Lets hear some views.

dfo said no safe inspection necessary for new licenses only for renewals. So lets hope things keep going at this pace ;D

I have done my renewals already in 2005, but really hope that the whole Act is blown out of the water. ;D

I would say that the way I currently see the situation...this could be the only way to retain your fierarm if you are in this position. As the old license remains valid and the disposal route is still open but re-licensing not....then your proposal does seem to be the only option.

I am told by a friend in the guntrade that Booysens police station is still accepting renewals.
I tried to phone Alberton to see what they were up to but they were not answering.
    Will try again tomorrow.

Could I ask those willing to please contact their local firearms copshop & ask if they are accepting renewal & then post the results on this thread.

Would give us a better picture of what is actually happening.
Recent studies show that 1 out of every 3 liberals are just as dumb as the other 2
