Default Hunting season - best local trophies..??

So hey, hunting season's on top of us and some of us had the opportunity to get going.

I'm thinking it could be interesting to start a running thread on the best length for e.g. kudu, impala, etc. this hunting season and the bragging rights are up for grabs at the end of the season. For instance, if Gidsie runs into a 48" kudu, he sends it in stating where, (with) what & when. deonh, wearing his pink ladyguy camo, then runs into a nice 48.5" bull & then he sends it in.

So, if you happen across a nice specimen and you reckon it's beautiful, post the measurements on this thread and specify whether you have specifically gone for a trophy or not.

We'll add species as we go along and work from there!

    Black Wildebees: 28 inches - THOMAST's son
Impala: 19 inches - The Butcher
Blue Wildebees: 27 inches - The Butcher

    Hey

    Nope, photo's go here: http://www.gunsite.co.za/forum/index.php?topic=2311.60

This thread would purely be a list of species & horn/appropriate measuring term-length.

Eastern Cape Hunters will probably do well here..

ProHunter ... This is your time to become famous!!!

I'm Hunting for meat most of the time... to get to the top 5 on Kudus over 45" is gonna cost us Bushveld Hunters over R7000 per set of horns and up to R11500!!

But dont let me cool your idea down... hpy180

Cool idea.  I've never measured a trophy though and doubt I ever will  ???  Nothing against it and I see the value in keeping the data, I just don't.

Won't a well taken and tasteful photo of a good representative specimen also qualify or is all about length?

    Let me clarify...

I did not mean trophies. I meant realistic lengths that you, me & the other 'average' guys would encounter during the hunting season.

Sort of the Gunsite equivalent of Rowland Ward.

Cool.  How do you want the horns measured?  Inner length?  Outer length?  Along the spiral ridge?  Tip-to-tip (span)?  You wanna include base diameter and / or width of boss and amount of tines?  And what about birds and animals without horns?  :-*

Use Rowland Ward as guideline and use the species-appropriate manner.

    Anything else?
