I think that range was arrived at out of practical considerations, ie. really hard to hit anything 2km.Doesnt mean longer shots are impossible with it. Shots have been taken with the British L115A1 rifle in .338 at over double its accurate range already.

Mechchem developed the rifle with the CSIR many years ago... Come to think of they came up with lots of cool toys, too bad they only do landmine clearing these days... :(

If I recall the ammo was about R400 per shot, and that was for HE.
