    Default Con(ning)vincing the wives...

    Hi guys

Myself and a friend would like to take our wives on an "introduction to fire-arms and safety" type course. The idea is to disguise it as a fun day/afternoon out, not too technical, maybe expose them to a range of small-arms and hopefully outdoors somewhere.

Does such a thing exist in the Gauteng area?

    Yup. BigT's training :-D.

Or SAS when they have family days.

    Just do it!
I enjoy outdoor shooting ranges more, have taken the wife(and many other's) for a day at the range.
The great outdoors and the smell of gun powder, what more can you ask for?

Outdoor ranges are the best option for what you are planning! I found tha the noise, flames indoor is shocking for the ladies!

I do this with mates all the time- just start with the 4 cardinal safety rules, a few of the range rules, show them how to load, unload and make safe, then a brief bit on the 7 fundamentals and then let them rip!

Dunno about outdoors, but indoors you can go to Flora Guns at Hiilfox centre and Guthries in Midrand.

I think indoors and semi-indoors (Gunthries) might be a little intimidating for them. Idea is to lure them in, not scare the living bejesus out of them.
Outdoors they can work on their tans while learning ;-)

Organise a day through GS, am sure plenty of guys will pitch? (Anything to further the cause).

How is it going with your project HT? Done your competency yet?

    Hey Psycho,

Not yet, travelling a lot right now so hardly home. Will do it as soon as work things calm down to a mild panic. In the meantime though, it looks like I have grown a posse of mates keen to do their competencies and buy fire-arms , hence the whole "get the wives involved" thing.
