I am in no way "Anti-Hunting"...just recently saw images of Lions and other animals being shot at point blank range as "Trophies"...not for meat, purely to say "hey, I shot a Lion"...never really understood the fascination of trophy hunting, especially when the hunter is hiding behind a large telescope?

I didn't realise Giraffe had much meat value and that it was good at evading / running away...

Is this for meat, or just for the fun of killing without reason?
Are you for real or just being a knob?

WAIT SORRY, just saw that you are in the Garden Route so i will go slowly.

I have hunted a few Giraffe and i can tell you that its not at all easy.
Just remember that the heart is very high, dont shoot low or you will be walking for a very long time.
take the bump in the front of the chest where the neck joins the body. aim for the middle of this bump and ran back into the body by about 12 inches.
read up on shot placement before you decide to take on a Giraffe, loosing 10 to 20k because of bad shot placement is not going to sit well.
I have been offered a female for 8k on my one hunt in July. Going to try and take it with my wifes .44 Red Hawk

its not springbuck, the head is a few inches higher off the ground than a normal buck. so after the shot the bullet goes??????
No you aim for the boiler room every time. neck shots are also not on, had a client hit one in the neck with a 9.3 x 62 and it took off. They are much harder than they look.

Contact Koos Steenkamp @ 079 3533 480 or steenkampkoos@yahoo.com. He mentioned a young bull in the Free State for R9000.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for all the info. I have a buthcer that will buy the meat from me.

As for the guy from the Garden route, I want to walk and stalk it and come within 50m from it. I will be using my .375 H&H with open sights. Hunting, Shooting or Culling is part of Nature Conservation. I will eat some of the meat the same is I did with the tuskless Elephant cow I shot.

dritz - Thanks for the tips I will study it before i sqeeuze the trigger.
