Handguns to avoid - first hand experience
I've tried searching but couldn't pick up a dedicated thread in this regard.
Ideally this would be a thread that noobs, like me, could use to better guide us when shopping for guns.
The reason I ask for first hand experience, is that it could highlight issues unique to the South African market and to avoid brand bashing.
It could also show that not every gun that has "This Name" or is "Made There" is a good buy.

no need to bash bad guns, just get a GLOCK and you're guaranteed good to go

Whatever you do, stay away from any handgun that doesn't say "GLOCK"!
No seriously, I can't really help here. Apparently the Taurus Millenium sucks...

HK, Glock or Sig; Pick any of the 3 or all 3.

Re: Handguns to avoid - first hand experience
I had poor experiences with a sw sigma in 9mm.gun had a ftf or fte 4-5 times on every mag shot.mate of mine bought it for sd brand new about 12 years ago .the mag used to also fall out when shooting the gun.he tried to get the issues sorted but failed.gun was never really carried for sd as it was so unreliable.he eventually tossed it and got a usp in 40.
And contrary to popular opinion I think the taurus pt 92 is less than ideal as a result of personal experience.bought one brand new in 1998-stainless version and got rid of it after a few months as the safety/decocker broke off in normal use.I personally would choose a vektor z88 over the taurus anyday,if I were to get a 92 clone.just my opinion.Last edited by dunn2240; 22-02-2013 at 05:31.

Or CZ. For practical reasons though I'd recommend GLOCK. I don't know how parts/support for other manufacturers will keep up with the US gun craze.
