Re: Camo tape on barrel
I had a .222 and fitted a silencer.
Groups opened up considerably, so I took the silencer back.
It was swopped out as "sometimes a silencer doesn't agree with the rifle" according to the gunsmith.
However, the 2nd silencer held the groupings nicelyA roaring Lion kills no game

Re: Camo tape on barrel
On this point - is there any advantage on the .22 range to shoot with a silencer - all at 50 meters positions = Lying, sit/kneel and standing (without rests).
Always a heavy debate at the range, but I have not experienced any "improved shooting" with a silencer - even worse when you have to hold it still in standing position.

Re: Camo tape on barrel
I am grateful for all the input. I think it is the silencer I think I must work up a new load with the silencer on. It is such an effective silencer that shooting Ribbok will be a dream! After much deliberation I do not think it is the tape - I have a 308 that shoots like a dream with tape on. I am going to pick up the speed and alter the seating depth until I find a load that works. I can still experiment a great deal before I dump the silencer. I am also going to move to Sierras - the most accurate bullet in the universe
