What age would you expose your children to firearms and sport shooting?

I'm sure a lot of people want their children to start asap but I think it depends on their responsibilty, maturity, etc. Don't think it's great having your child run around school telling everyone how he/she shot the weekend.

I don't have children yet but can just think that one will know when the time is right and if the interest is there.

Off Topic - Perhaps this should be moved to the General Discussion forum as this is not hunting related?

On Topic - Wow, wish I had that opportunity when I was a child...

    WOW!!!

My daughter is almost three, and every time I take out the air-rifle she wants to shoot.
Truly hope she loves the sport as much as I do.

We spoke about hunting from std 1. I had to wait until I was 12 for my first hunt. It was part of life back in the early 90's.

I brought my 6 year old for a few hunts this year. I think it is good that she sees were the meet comes from and learns to slaughter an animal. I don't think she cares so much about the actual hunting, but she enjoys the close look at the animals and likes spending time with the old hunting guys by the fire. My 9 year old loves shooting beer cans with my .22 rifle, but the 6 year old is too youg for that. She can't handle the rifle. I think that any other weapons must wait a few more years for them to be able to handle, mybe early teens or so.
