28inch vs 30inch over/under barrels
Hi Guys,
I have taken the plunge and decided to go the beretta silver pigeon 1 sporting route.
I really need some advice on the above regarding my choice of barrel length. I am 1.77m tall and weight around 73kg.
I will be shooting a lot of dove as well as copius amounts of sporting clays.
I have fitted both barrel lengths and both seem to be easily manouvarable however there is a slight noticeable difference with the 28 inch barrels that being a quicker swing however sight plain is at a disadvantage.
Will extendable chokes solve this issue?
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Re: 28inch vs 30inch over/under barrels
If you going to shoot sporting I would go with 30" more pro than cons even for shooting in the field. I shoot with a 30" for Compak and use it in the field for wing shooting and a mate of mine bought a 28" but now wishes he got a 30".

Go 30". I started shooting flying with a 32" SxS. Used it untill it became unservicable. Now it's a 30" 20Ga Browning O/U. Probably would have been a 32" if I could get one.
The smooth swing of a 30" just feels so right.

a 30" just swings smoother and just lekke!! Good for Doves, Waterbirds and Trap.. For Walking up Guineafowl a shorter barrel might be better at times and also sporting clays... Go with the 30"!

I don't think you can make a wrong decision.
However if you got some contacts where you could shoot a 30" and 28", then go shot them both and see what suits you best.
In my personal opinion, Its a personal thing.

Re: 28inch vs 30inch over/under barrels
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm leaning towards the 30" at this stage. Is anyone in Port Elizabeth with a Beretta silver pigeon going to the club clay over the weekend that would let me test theirs? Thinking a little tester would solidify my choice.
