Posting a scope from the US?
Hi
No one localy sells the scope I want locally.
My sister is in Utah/citizen. Can she order the scope and post it to me or are scopes restricted items?
SWFA won't ship to SA.
Thanks.

Re: Posting a scope from the US?
Should be fine as long as its not a restricted item like a Mil issued NV scope
To the previous question, i would not risk a scope to be tossed around in the mail system all the way from the states.

Re: Posting a scope from the US?
All scopes are ITAR restricted. I tried this and had 2 x Burris scopes siezed by Dept Homeland security. The poor chap who posted it, had to sit through four 2 hour interviews by FBI (they thought we was a terrorist). After a $500 fine, we got our scopes back, but alas they still in Texas.
I know some guys have done this successfully by, removing it from origional box, wraping it as gift. But i wouldn't risk it. Buy local, it is much less hassle.

One of my friends also tried to have a scope posted, it was seized and the guy who posted it got a $250 fine.

Then you run the risk of being stopped with it.
What are you looking for that isn't available locally, or are you just trying to save $?

Re: Posting a scope from the US?
Save $ for sure...When you can get 100 bullets for R320 vs R780 , new unfired brass at 40% of local price, scopes at 50% local price....why wouldn't I ? I can get twice the amount of shooting done for the same price. I support local for all my other kit but bullets / brass etc we get fleeced here .
http://pmddtc.state.gov/regulations_..._official.html
Seems that if the scope is not military grade then it is ok...bullets seem to be in a grey area, reloading kit is ok etc etc...

Re: Posting a scope from the US?
I was just thinking that adding $250 to the price and the hassle of delays may not be worth it.....
