Default Flora Guns Shooting Club-Newsletter April 2013

Fun Shoot Wednesday evening 01 May 2013
    Dear Members,

With the move of Flora Guns to bigger premises at Hillfox Centre there seems to be a lot more exposure of the business and together with this has come some new inspiration to improve the Shooting Club for its members. Last month we started to have a look at ideas of what we should do to make these improvements and this mainly depends on the interest shown by the members.

    NEW CLUB DEVELOPMENTS
The aim of the club - Promote Safe Gun Handling, interactive, appealing for all members & accommodate their interests in various disciplines of shooting.

Some of the ideas are to arrange different types of shoots in order for the club to appeal to everyone, such as these below:
    · Combat/IDPA Type Scenario Shoots
    · 2/3 Gun Shoots
    · Team Shoots
    · Fun/Social Shoots -Unique Targets etc.
    · Using Different Props.
    · Incorporate Movement, Stances, Stress
    · Low Light Events
    · Pin Shoots
    · "Steel Challenge" type shoots

We would also like to possibly start establishing an entry fee (around R20) for certain shoots which would be collected and used to cover Prizes, New interesting targets/props and any other associated costs towards upgrades the club.

We may look at also starting up practice/training evenings to help improve the abilities of its members.

In order to kick this off we have decided to host a social braai and meeting all in one this month, together with a basic standards type shoot which will be run using all the bays and timed, details of the shoot are as follows:

    SHOOT
    3 – TWO – 1
    Total Round Count = 30
    Total Score: 70
    Time: 10-4 seconds
    Distance: 5m
    Start Position: Holstered

Using a shot timer, a time will be given. Shots after the timer will be penalised by deducting 10 points from the score. The Square will amount to 5 points, the Circle to 3 points and the Rectangle to 1 point. On the buzzer, draw and fire six rounds as follows in any order:
    · three rounds at the rectangle
    · two rounds at the circle
    · one round at the square

The drill will be repeated for a total of five runs. Speeding up gradually – 10, 8, 6, 5, 4. This should give you:
    ·
    · fifteen hits in the rectangle
    · ten hits in the circle
    · five hits in the square
    3-2-1.jpg
Venue: Flora Guns @ Hillfox Shooting Range
    Date: 01 May 2013
    Time: 18h00 Start shoot
    18h30 Meeting
    19h00 Braai

    MEETING
The meeting plans to establish the following:

    1. If there is an interest in attending club events which will be pre-arranged and scheduled well in advance.
    2. Establish nominations for a club committee
    3. What types of shoots would be preferred & when
    4. How we intend handling large groups of members attending shoots
    5. Discuss the way forward to grow the club and provide members with what they would expect from the club.

Looking forward to seeing you there,

    Miguel Rodrigues (Nominated as Chairman)

    Flora Guns @ Hillfox.

Message from André Nel Owner of Flora Guns

    Dear members,

I would like to add some more info to Miguel's message. The new gun shop and shooting range at Hillfox is a big improvement over the old place at Flora Centre. We have increased our membership fees, but have also added a lot more benefits. Membership is now R950 per year

We now have got seven shooting bays (4 on 15 meters and 3 on 10 meters) We are also in the process of building three more ranges on 15 meters. It should be ready in a month or two.

Our lighting and ventalation is much better. We also now have backup power that allows us to be in full operation in the event of a power failure.

It also seems that the new location at Hillfox is more convenient for most of our members.

We have the largest variety of demo guns available to test fire free of charge to our members. These guns include

    Glock 17,19, 26, 22, 23C, 21S

    Taurus PT99, PT917, PT809,PT609

    Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm Para

    Heckler & Koch USP Compact

    Grand Power K100, P11 and P1

    Norinco1911's

    CZ PO7 Duty

    Taurus Raging Bull 454 Casull

    Colt Officers Model

Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine 9mm Para

    BXP 9mm Para

    Smith & Wesson M&P 15 22LR

    AKKA 12 Gauge Pump Action

    Mossberg 12 Gauge

    Ruger Mini 14

    M1 Garand 30-06

    M1 30 Carbine Underwood

    R1 is coming on Wednesday

    AK 47 & R1 coming on Wednesday

500 S&W has been ordered and should be here early May.

These guns are our demo's to test fire and are not for sale.

As a member you don't pay range fees of firearm rental. You only buy the ammo.

And another advantage of the new range is that we can fire any rifle calibre.

If you do miss the Fun Shoot on Wednesday, remember that the last Wednesday evening of the Month is the fun shoot. Miguel and myself will keep you posted with a regular newsletter.

    Thanks,

    André Nel.

You can join the shoot and pay standard range fees which is R90,00, but you can't win any of the prizes. You can walk away with a throphy though.
I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy
