HI THERE GUYS, I HAVE BOUGHT A HOWA .308 AND WILL BE SENDING IN MY MOTIVATION SOON ETC. APPARENTLY YOU NEED A LETTER FROM A GAME FARM WHERE YOU HAVE HUNTED BEFORE... IS THAT THE CASE? SORRY FOR POSTING THIS IN HUNTING RIFLES, BUT NO ONE ANSWERS IN THE LISENCE THREADS.

MY FRIEND DID HIS LISENCE FOR A 30.06 LAST YEAR AUGUST AND HE SAID THAT THEY WANT A LETTER OF RECCOMENDATION FROM 2 FARMS THAT YOU HAVE HUNTED IN THE PAST....

I ALSO PHONED THE CFR TODAY AND ON OF THE DFO'S TOLD ME THAT IN SOME CERTAIN INSTANCES YOU NEED IT

why are you shouting?
no you dont need it, you just need to motivate it properly. Most gun shops have people who do motivations. get a proper one done up for yourself and submit that along with 2 photos of your safe. open showing the bolts and closed.
Cert copy of your I.D, your Comp and you are good to go.
if you belong to any clubs then also provide proof of membership.

and STOP shouting.

So you bought a rifle to hunt but need to submit proof of hunting before you actually had a rifle...
Unless you have friends/family who hunt I dont see how that can be considered fair or reasonable.

A letter from a farm you have hunted before is not essential. If you have hunted before and shot animals, a picture of those animals as well as a letter from the farmer confirming that you did indeed shoot the before mentioned animals should be submitted with your licence as part of your motivation. This is an invaluable aid in terms of your motivation.

It could possibly be 2 letters of farms where you will be able to hunt.

also on the previous checklist they had a box where you had to show 2 examples of previous hunts, this was however from the renewal checklist and was taking over.
