I also had the No1 Mk3. I had my barrel bedded. With hand loaded ammo, I could get 25mm or less @ 100m (rifle was scoped). My gunsmith told me that the thin barrel of the Lee Enfield likes to have some upward pressure. It certainly worked on my rifle. He also removed the first stage of the trigger pull, made a big difference, so there is no need to buy an aftermarket trigger.

My 303 can be tested if you like I reload and got rid of the woodwork. Accuracy acceptable to group well depends on shooter ability mostly. Build by Savage about 1940 odd.
Love the old girl and she can if I do my part. COL critical next to slugging the barrel. S335 powder.

The barrel on my Enfield have not really seen much work since it was replaced. But did have a bit of copper fouling that I removed with Hoppe's Copper solvent. Just need to get back to the range with better ammo to see what I can do with it.
