You are correct, I should have written that better. Im of the understanding that the importation of steel core ammo in this calibre has been stopped into the USA. Which in turn effectively means all Mil surplus out of the entire East Bloc. The ammo is made using a steel core for no other reason than production costs, according to them it is far cheaper to produce this way. Again since the base is made from lead anyway I fail to see how this is true, perhaps they just use less lead and that's were the money is saved Something else the Russians have said is that the same reason they use steel cases is that steel is cheaper than brass. Others argue that using steel in the production of the cases is actually more expensive due to the process If this is true I do not know.

What im trying to say is this: If you look at all the Mil surplus manufactured in the East-Bloc for this calibre all of it contains a steel core in some or another form/design.
The ban would include the original 5N7 and all the following 7N6, 7N10, 7N22, 7N24.

Which to me means that the only ammo available for this calibre currently in the USA would be the commercially made Hornady. For interest sake have a look at the price differences between Hornady and the imported stuff.

What all this means to the market I don't know. Im actually hoping that this has a positive effect. Im hoping that when all the surplus runs out, that local American manufacturers begin making components for reloading purposes. By this stage there may then be a demand that the local companies can now supply. Lets wait and see

Hi Nadine I would be happy to place an order and wait :-)

Well, it means the bottom just dropped out of the American market for the east bloc fellows. Means they're sitting on ammo they can't sell. That sounds like an opportunity to me.

Spiggs, I remember your order but none of it has arrived yet. I'll ask them and get back to you.
