Re: Changing a firearm from self defense to sportin
lets apply a bit of common sense here.. if one owns a sport gun, where do they get this "proof" every time they want to drive to the range in case they get stopped en route?
and before you ask, no, it doesnt have to be unloaded, or in the boot, or in a locked case or anything like that.
there is a procedure to follow, its called reading the firearms control act. and posting an intro :)

Read the FCA.
If you needed prove of going shooting etc it would be mentioned there.
All your answers us in the FCA. If everyone made more effort to study the FCA and knew the law, there would not be so many people going around with false/inaccurate info.. If I have to believe the things i hear from people regarding how they THINK things to work i just say, read the law and come back to me.
Seriously, the FCA states clearly any legal firearm may be used for a legal purpose.
(Now take this with a pinch of salt)
Hell if your wife is held up with a gun in your yard and you are in the house or in a second floor, you can grab your hunting rifle and shoot the guy steadily, if there is no other option or no time. As long as it was lawful. When your life is in fatal danger, no limits apply as to what you can do. As long as there were no other options.
So stop worrying, read the law properly and then A for away

To the OP, your next post will be in the introduction section.

the glory of the great dead.

Re: Changing a firearm from self defense to sportin
The only thing you may not do with your sporting weapon that you may do with you SD weapon, is to store it loaded. Apart from that you may use it for anything else that is legal.
