Re: Help for Venus, the going-blind cheetah
Okay guys, update a week before the scheduled surgery. They are standing at close to R30,000. The support is slowing down a little (as can be understood), so I'd like to ask if you guys wouldn't mind to spread the word around a little again, please?

Re: Help for Venus, the going-blind cheetah
And, just like that, the goal is made. I don't know who everyone is who contributed, neither how much everyone gave, but they reached their R45,000 for the operation. Guys, thank you so, so much. Garrett asked me to thank you all as well, on his behalf, and he intends to thank you all in the documentary that he's planning on the operation.
So, from my side, Venus' side and from the people at Cango Wildlife Ranch, thank you so, so much! Every cent helped, and now Venus can have her surgery without Cango paying a cent for it!
With regards to the EFT and SMS line - it'll stay open for now, and any funds received in this time will be ploughed into the Cheetah Conservation project, as well as be used for Venus' recovery after the surgery.
Thanks guys, really, thank you!

Re: Help for Venus, the going-blind cheetah
Alright people, thanks to everyone who helped along, Operation Venus is underway and the Cango Wildlife Ranch can do everything without ever worrying about a cent of debt. Who knew the day would come so soon?
Late this afternoon (actually early this evening), Venus was knocked out and put in her box for transport to Cape Town. They'll be leaving at 3:30 tomorrow morning (that's in 5 hours). Operation is tomorrow, and we hope to hear back ASAP!

And the operation was a success! They are on their way back to the ranch and Venus will be released in due time. They expect a few days before sight will be restored, but all-in-all things are looking up (pun intended)!
