I am in the process of renewing 2 of my Competencies. The one was issued in 2013 and I submitted my SASSETA certificate (issued 2011) with application then.

Now my DFO is unable to capture my renewal applications, citing "invalid" training certificate as reason. (I have all the training certificates as well as a SASSETA certificate.)

It would seem that only PFTC certificates are accepted now. So much for your training certificates being a formal qualification...

So I'm off for another round of RPL "training" and all the fees associated with that.
Phone the centre that did the training in the first place, they are able to transfer to PFTC, you need a statement of results to renew.

I did, they told me I did the training more than 5 years ago and they do not keep documents more than 5 years and thus can't help, I'll have to redo the training.

Why is your current competency not proof enough of valid training previously submitted to SAPS?

They don't accept Saseta anymore, my training provider was kind enough to move all my older certificates over to PFTC. All I had to do is provide them with the old certificates.

The DFO says that my certificate was not issued by a currently accredited institution. This means SASSETA is not accredited by the CFR anymore or maybe never was. This, despite my qualifications being valid for life...

Sorry. Reviving a old thread. I have a competency that I got with a SASSETA cerificate just before the whole PFTC thing. For my last gun, after the rule came in that you needed the statement of results etc, my DFO just attached a statement saying that I don't have it since I did my training with SASSETA before the change. App went through no issue. This was August 2016.
If I have to possibly redo the training with PFTC would i then need to reapply for competency from scratch?

Mine did the same for me.
I would like to know if I do a new firearms application do I only have to submit the STATEMENT OF RESULTS from PFTC certificate or must I also attach the different certificates received from my Training Institute as well.
I also suppose the certificate SASSETA issued me for my handgun doesn’t need to be submitted anymore as it is basically invalid.
