Re: Show us your Lee Enfield
My interest is purely an emotional one, for some reason the SMLE is my favourite rifle. Yes, I will shoot it of course. I didn't buy it only to look good in the gun safe :)
As far as i can tell the numbers all add up - on the nose cone etc. The barrel shroud has no wear, the wood is in fantastic nick, magazine looks like new. Possibly a gun left in the grease bag for 80 years...

Re: Show us your Lee Enfield
Does anyone have any pictures of the SA wartime (WW II) produced .303 ammunition? Just curious to see headstamps and such. I've got some ~70 rounds of some of the last .303 ammunition produced in New Zealand.
Colonial Ammunition Company (CAC) was its name and it went out of business in 1959 I believe. The stuff I have which I'm saving for my bolt-action match in November is from 1956.

The cartridge on the left and the tracer on the right were manufactured by the South African Mint in Pretoria. Those in between with the diamond in the headstamp came from the Kimberly branch.

Zoo keeper that is a beautiful rifle!!! Wife's uncle has a similar one which just stands in the safe! How accurate is it?

Re: Show us your Lee Enfield
Nice looking rifle! With a barrel in good shape I expect that it will be reasonably accurate, but unfortunately one cannot expect miracles from the S.M.L.E. design.
