Congrats on a fine handgun, you will enjoy it.
Don't cut it , shoot it until you can find a 5 1/2 inch. I personally prefer the longer barrel.

Re: 44. Mag Hunting revolver.
Hey @African - How about we pit my bow and arrow against your handgun at 50 meters and see who hits a tennis ball the most times in 10 shots? I have always wanted to try that?

Re: 44. Mag Hunting revolver.
In answer to original thread on price, i was visiting gunshops with my boet on 23 Dec when we came accross 2 beauties at Hugo van Zyl Sports in Paarl. They had a SBH .44mag blue steel for R18k and a SRH .44mag stainless for R22k. Should still be there if anyone is looking.

While I agree with you, if your point is that one can find second hand ones in good condition (NIB - in most cases - as many want these guns, but soon realise that they are quite the handful....and we are still not talking 460XVR or .500 Linebaugh or WE or Bowen type "handful" here)...sadly, those prices are what they cost new here.

Re: 44. Mag Hunting revolver.
They are not cheap even here in the US. I used an exchange rate of 15.5 R to $1 US dollar and got R 10,100 for a SBH and R 14,400 for a SRH NIB.

With shipping and insurance in costing, if we buy from a local dealer we are looking at an effective rate of about R23 to the Dollar. Ouch.
