How said someone else on the forum? E-toll can suck my toll-E.

I'm planning a different road for the short while E-toll is expected to work. Also, if you don't have a tag, how are you expected to receive a bill? Pictures of my number plate? Licence disc?

Same way you receive your traffic tickets I would imagine.

and we all know how well that is managed.

I've heard various people talking about ways to mess with the e-tolling, from hacking the servers to ways to mask plates, to suggesting copper thieves hit the gantries.

The simple act of non-compliance alone will cause it to fail. Passive resistance, as advocated by Gandhi.

So, the gantry takes a pic of your number plate. What if you drive too close to the car in front of you? It won't be able to take a pic from above as the angle won't allow a proper view of the number plate.

Not being in Gauteng I have only listened to the fallout from the planning and not given much thought to the implications of not having a disc. But the way I understand this is as follows; It is not illegal not to purchase a tag, it is a suggestion that motorists buy one to benefit from the lower rate. Merely not having a disc is not punishable. You still get billed but at a higher rate. Failing to pay that bill will expose you to action to recover outstanding due fees. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
