Default Making Wors: Mincer attachment or dedicated wors filler

Is there any reason to use a dedicated( separate) wors filler instead of the wors filler attachment that connects onto the end of the mincer?

Depends on qty being made. I've never been successful with the mincer attachments. The quality and speed at which product is made is just not the same. If you are making anything other than a one off, very small batch , then get yourself a stand alone like the trespade.

I did the research and all recommended a dedicated filler. The rate of flow in a dedicated filler is more constant and apparently allows for a better quality product. I think your volumes will determine if you need one as already stated.

I made a filler as we like to process all out meat on the hunt. This way one some of the hunting party can start filling the casings without having to wait for all the mince to be completed.

When you mince the meat there are stages where the fat content is more than other times. When mincing I spread the heap of mince in the bucket thereby ensuring a more even distribution of the fat in the mince mix.

I found the attachment to the mincer restricted the mincer too much, and the meat & fat got mixed into a pinkish pulp causing my wors to look like polony. I drove out and bought a filler and havn't looked back.

I agree that the filler is the best way to go. Make sure it is large enough for the quantity meat you would normally use.

I made the mistake of buying with my eye on the cost of the machine (3kg capacity) - it is frustrating to fill the thing every few minutes. My next buy would be one of at least 10kg capacity.

Thanks for that advice. I will keep that in mind when choosing one.
