Default Fishing spots at the Vaal River

    Hi Guy's,

Where are decent fishing spots/resorts at the Vaal River? I want to stop and set up on the bank of the river. Not off-load and walk 50 metres with all my stuff to the waterfront.

Please give me some names that I can google.

I want to take my family and father fishing on 14/12/2013.

    Thanks

Thanks NIBOR. I am looking more at the river. My father struggles with casting so the Vaaldam might be out. I know a couple of nice places at the dam but want to try the river.

I have decided to try a place called Westvaal Resort. The place looks decent if I go by the website photo's. Will report back after the weekend.

Please give us some feedback. We are looking to cast a few flies over the next few weeks and have been told that the Vaal is not clean. Apparently the Emfuleni municipality is pumping PLENTY of raw sewerage into the vaal.

I donot fish, but if you look at google earth then most of the sh1t that polutes the vaal comes from Jhb via the Klip river (see where the Klip enters the Vaal from green to a sick grey colour). It looks more logic to see if you can find a spot in the Vaal before the Klip gets to it. It was running quite fast last week. Is it good for fishing? Just my idea.

Vaal, We live 'just off' the klip and don't see that. Nampak is an issue as they are doing a dirty in the river and obfuscating and generally denying.

Besides that how much can you interpret from a google image, green in water is not a good sign.

As a farmer, green water denotes too high a nitrogen leaching from associated farmlands.

The klip comes out of a HUGE wetland just south and west of Alberton and that cleans most of the dirt from JHB and the tailings.
