R2.8 is okay and a lot less than the R6k they quoted me at one time...

Indeed. Not sure if it's a volume thing resulting in it being more affordable for Nissi now or that they simply didn't have takers at the old price. Did I mention that's R2k8 EXCLUDING VAT?

Cockroach, I didn't ask questions like that. Based on my reading of this and other threads where the applicable legislation and standards are quoted, I believe I have a clear picture. Much of those fall beyond the ambit of the safe manufacturer/installer anyway so I doubt they're clued up in any event. Considering I dealt with a skeleton crew so I could have this done over a weekend makes the point moot actually.

Now , to go visit the DFO , I really hope all goes well , seeing as a DFO already told me outright that a civilian is not allowed to store a FA in a car safe, even if it is professionally installed, certified and complies with SABS 953-1 standard for B3 safes.
What ever happened when you went to see the DFO?

Did Marcus go to his DFO? Did anyone get a safe somewhere else?

Just to update this thread. Just waiting for my licence card to carry and our company does not allow firearms to be brought onto site.

So need a safe for daily storage while in the office. Phoned Nissi and they quoted R3050 excl for manual version and R3750 excl for remote operated version. Installation takes 3 hours and safe conforms to SABS requirements and installation certificate is provided.

Anybody knows if safes are custom made? Or standard sizes ?

I have a very unique requirement. Safe will have to be made to certain dimensions so it can be fitted in a specific location.
