Default Fishing Northern Moz - avoiding Komati customs etc.

    Hi guy
Octoberish next year we will be heading up to Club15 lodge at Nmbabwe (30km North of Inhassoro) for two weeks fishing.
Earlier this year we had some bad experiences at the Komatipoort customs - Moz side - so thinking of trying the access through Kruger. I assume one sleeps over at Letaba (compulsory stop) then proceed to Giriyondo Gate. After that can't work route out from road maps or Google Earth.
What I need to know are:
    1) am I right so far up to Giriyondo Gate
    2) best route from Giriyondo to EN1 and kms
    3) condition of road
    4) where do we hit the EN1
    TIA

what issues did you have at the komatie moz border ? we always enter via this border post towing a large boat and normally get through without any hassles

Not a customs issue as such but one of their cops insisted on checking our Mets for forgeries and, with the help of some colleagues who surrounded us, just turned and walked off with about R5k worth of our Mets. Worst thing was that we were helpless - just got the raised shoulders and sheepish smiles from the other uniformed guys. The same fat bastard tried to get smart with us on our way out and feigned great offence and threatened us with arrest when we told him to FO.

Lian, I hear you but with his crowd assembled around us we would probably have lost lost phones too. We were a mixed group so no heroics

Odd. They have tried but a quick no thank you seems to stop it in the tracks.

    Hi Peter,
Every considered travelling through Swaziland. Goba border post is the24hrs and very few issues. Most guys we know go through the border late at night to avoid the traffic congestion in Maputo. Oshoek border post to SA closes at midnight.

+1 on Swaziland - never had any issues going through that way, always a pleasure.

PS PeterMcc - where abouts in Swazi are you? I go through to Big Bend a couple times a year, and was wondering about how much of a mission it would be to take a Firearm with?
