Re: Silencers and accuracy
Is the problem poor accuracy with the silencer on or is the problem the different impact points when shooting with the silencer on and when shooting without it?
If it is poor accuracy with same loads with the silencer on then one of the following problems might be the cause:
1) Badly made / damaged silencer
2) Dirty silencer
3) Damaged muzzle crown
The points of impact will shift when removing or fixing a silencer and therefor you will always have to re-sight the rifle.

Re: Silencers and accuracy
Thanks for the replies guys.
Dont know if i misread the answer, but still dont know if a suppressor wil force me to develop new loads. I know it will chance the POI, but will it still give 1/4 MOA accuracy.
I dont mind if the POI changes, i have those little wheels on the sides of my scope that will sort that out. grn1 But will all the holes be together at my new POI?

Re: Silencers and accuracy
From my post above - I cannot put it clearer ;D
"My Steyr can shoot 0.5moa with handloads and that does not change with the AU mounted."

Re: Silencers and accuracy
Ase Utra is imported from Finland by Powder Keg in JHB , Talk to Wendy Potgieter 011 472 1720 / 1722. I suggest the Northstar model due to the fact that it is a reflex type and does not add as much forward length as other models.
Then get a very good gunsmith to do the barrel threading and shoulder cut on a lathe? (draaibank). Danie Joubert 083 326 8290 in Pta has done several and his work is 100% accurate.
Determine barrel radius and get Danie to suggest the correct spigot dimension.
The Ase Utra's are awesome.
If any more info is needed I am happy to help if I can.

Re: Silencers and accuracy
Thanks Khumba. I'll give them a call and order one. Luckily there arer one or two good gunsmiths in Bloem. Gerrie Coetzee has done some work on my rifles and I was very pleased with his work. I know he turn on a lathe.
Once again thanks, you just took away the trial and error part of my supressor worries. happy0065

Longshot
There's a guy that makes Terminator silencers in Bloem. I've got good replies from a lot of people that used them. About 1K is a very good price.
Try him out or go see him.

Re: Silencers and accuracy
I have a pic of the inside of a Ase Utra that I can send you.
Imo there is no way it can be replicated locally for the same price.
Run of the mil suppressors invariably use baffle plates and it would be interesting to see what local suppressors look like inside.
Ase Utra suppressors are international military grade quality and compares to the high end US suppressors.
