Height of gun sights & different night sights
I've been surfing the net hoping to learn a little about the different type of sights available on the market before I purchase any. been looking particularly at the various makes of night sights.
one thing which I dont know anything about is the height of the sight. what is the height of the standard Glock sights, such that I may base comparison around this. I understand we get different sized sights and dots, but what would be the recommended height to buy? if possible trying to keep it closest to the standard sights?
on the same note, how are Ameriglo sights rated? I have read threads discussing Novak, trijicon, Heini, etc.
lastly, which brands are available locally?

Trijicon in Standard Glock profile as well as Novak Profile.

The ameriglo sights are pretty close in profile to the stock sights. Don't worry too much about their height. If you buy a set they will be matched.
I have Heinie straight 8's. These are great. High profile, good sight picture.
The Warrens are excellent too.
I don't particularly like 3 dot night sights and prefer the 2 dot arrangement.

Re: Height of gun sights & different night sights
thanks guys
i dont particularly like 3-dot sights either. i think its way too much admin under low light stress.
how about ghost ring rear sights on handgun?
i particularly like Novak rear sight with a straight horizontal line. $90 for the rear sight only.
khumba, what sights do you have in your coffers?

Never tried ghost rings on a handgun. No IDPA with them though.

Novaks are not ideal for one handed pistol manipulation.

Re: Height of gun sights & different night sights
I can get Triji's = available.
I do not have a problem with 3 dot sights. I have 3 dot tritiums on all my pistols, Wilson, M&P and Glock. I have them in case ...
Imo it is quite academic - In low light ECQB and CQB where you need to shoot fast to stay out sh*@ you are most probably not going to see much of sights anyway - like in daylight.
At extended range beyond the CQB type ranges you will need light to ID the target and then the tritiums are not that important as you will have sight silhouette.
Others may differ from me about that.
