Quick release Suppressors
A mate of mine just bought a Smith & Wesson M&P15 TS which comes standard with a Vortex Flash hider that supposedly allows for a quick release Smith Enterprises Wind Talker suppressor.
Are these available locally or is there one that'll work with this flash hider?

Re: Quick release Suppressors
Provided the flash hider is the same dimensions of an A2, Numenor has one in development.

Re: Quick release Suppressors
Some of the ASE Utra suppressors also used A2 flash suppressors as a mount, but don't think they still make these. I may be wrong though.

Re: Quick release Suppressors
I saw a Quick Release suppressor being used on a NEA by Paul not so long ago, wondering if that'll work?

Re: Quick release Suppressors
Our BoreLock mounting collar will work together with the Smith Vortex flash hider.
The flash hider is removed, the BL mounting collar is threaded on and tightened, the flash hider is threaded back on and tightened.
Here is how the combo looks fitted:
The BoreLock mounting collar also accepts other flash hiders and muzzle brakes under 22mm diameter.
Best Regards!

Re: Quick release Suppressors
Sadly this particular flash hider is pinned in place, not sure if it'll thread on or not?

Re: Quick release Suppressors
Thanks for the pic Tuukka
Where would you place the crush washer? Behind the collar, or between collar and comp?

Re: Quick release Suppressors
We and many other quality suppressor manufacturers do not recommend the use of crush washers as they easily misalign the flash hider and suppressor.
With our current products, no shims are required as the flash hiders are not "timed" and our BoreLock muzzle brake is has a two part design = the front part is threaded and is aligned by turning it and fixed in place with a screw.
I have tightened the Vortex flash hider by placing a tool on the bottom of the of the prongs and tightening from there. At the moment we do not have a specific/proprietary tool for that.
Best Regards!
