Re: The Fabric of Terror: Three Days in Angola - Bernardo Teixeira
I heard about this book from an internet podcast, sorry I can't remember the title. However, I soon found this book in a used bookstore in our small town. It is a good read and since learning about it, my brother has read it.
Thus far I've had two buddies and one of my sons read The Fabric of Terror.
When it comes to explaining why private firearms ownership is important, The Fabric of Terror and The Battle of Philippeville, (Algeria) and how six French families barracaded themselves into one house and used the owner's sporting guns to protect themselves in the small isolated village of El-Halia, Algeria. References: Wikipedia (The Battle of Philippeville) and the Book "The Savage War of Peace".

The book is available as a free e-book on the internet. It describes horrific events but it is one-sided propaganda. It completely ignores the casual brutality of Portuguese colonialism. They had good reason to be angry and what in essence was a slave uprising became a massacre once you got hold of your masters. Tie this in with the propaganda coming from the newly independent Congo and a politician trying to carve out his own kingdom and you have all the ingredients to torture and kill the "others" . Come to think of it, it reminds of some other country. Can't put my finger on it.
