    Default Thinking out the box

Sometimes the Soviets got up to some pretty lateral stuff (kind of of like the Germans in WW2). Go check out the YouTube videos on the Ekranoplan.

Awesome idea but very limited in where it could be used. But thinking outside the box can sometimes bring the best solution.

But think of it this way: as a naval cruiser, it cost the fraction of what a ship cost and had the same strike capability at ten times the speed.

I agree. For it's intended purpose it is the ideal solution. It could also be used to rapidly deploy troops.Just an awesome machine.Firepower speed a decent range.I know if I was in any ship and saw that thing coming towards me I would change into my brown pants.

wonder how capable that thing would be on rough sea. At that high speed it's going to be quite a mess of sea sickness.

That's just the thing... because it's flying, (admittedly barely...) the sea conditions would not have that much of an influence.
